Shirley J. Ferguson
Born on PEI, Shirley spent her first 17 years near the ocean in Souris. After finishing her Education Degree, she moved to Quebec City where she took art lessons from Frank Iacurto. The beauty of Quebec inspired her to continue to paint. She moved to Victoria, BCand as a teacher taught art to her students and managed a gallery which featured West Coast artists. After moving to PEI in 2002, having been inspired by artists such as Robert Genn, Ronald Jackson, Douglas Elliot, Tom Roberts and Henry Purdy Shirley again took up painting. Her early love for the ocean, boats and sunsets have inspired her recent works of PEI.
God has inspired all of my paintings. The colours of the sky, water and earth are so amazing. Each colour used expresses how I interpret God’s creation.
Our world in the natural is so beautiful that I try to interpret it in each painting.
